Blended Learning Paediatric & Early Years First Aid

Our Blended Learning Paediatric course consists of 6 hours online learning followed by 1 days face to face training either at our training centre in Truro or at your place of work. Online learning must be completed before attending your classroom based training.

Course Overview

This course has been designed to meet with the requirements of OFSTED for Early Years First Aid Provision. Additionally the course meets with the recommendations of the First Aid Regulations issued by the Health & Safety Executive for the ‘Appointed Person’.

Paediatric and Early Years First Aid includes resuscitation skills for Adults, Infants and Children. Candidates will receive training in a range of first aid skills including:

  • The ability to act safely and effectively when an accident or emergency occurs.
  • The treatment and priorities of care for an unconscious casualty.
  • The recognition of cardiac arrest and delivery of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • The ability to safely and promptly treat a casualty who is bleeding.
  • Recognition of common childhood complaints and illnesses and appropriate care.
  • Developing an effective emergency plan for when emergencies occur.
  • The keeping of simple records following an accident in the workplace/care setting.

Paediatric and Early Years First Aid follows a syllabus laid down by First Aid Industry Body and utilises the following training methods:

  • 6 hours online eLearning to be completed prior to the practical training.
  • Lots of hands on practice in small groups monitored by the instructor.
  • Continual positive encouragement from approved Instructors with a normal maximum group size of 12.
  • An excellent, full colour student manual to use during the course and keep as a future reference on first aid.
  • Up-to-date information presented in a relaxed learning environment.
  • The opportunity to complete a course evaluation and register online with the First Aid Cornwall website to activate automatic qualification expiry reminders and signup for industry related updates

Successful candidates will be awarded a full colour A4 certificate from First Aid Cornwall accredited by The First Aid Industry Body.
